Setting Up Google Business Profile for an Asansol Business (Step by Step)

Google Business Profile (GBP) is the single free asset that decides whether Asansol customers find you on Maps and local search. Setting it up wrong wastes weeks. Here is the step-by-step process we use for every new Asansol SEO client.

Before you start

You need:

  • A Google account (personal Gmail is fine)
  • Your exact business name (the one on your signboard + GST if any)
  • Your full Asansol address with pincode
  • A working mobile number that can receive OTP
  • Ideally: 10+ photos of your shop / clinic / office

Step 1: Sign up

Go to google.com/business → “Manage now” → sign in with your Google account.

Step 2: Search for your business first

Type your business name. If Google already has an unverified listing (very common in Asansol), claim it instead of creating a new one. Creating a duplicate = both get suspended.

Step 3: Enter business details

  • Name: Just your brand. Don’t add “Best in Asansol” — Google suspends for keyword stuffing.
  • Category: Pick the most specific match. “Website designer” beats “marketing agency” if you do websites.
  • Address: Exact street, floor, landmark, pincode. Use the same wording you use on your website + JustDial.
  • Service area: Add every city you actually serve (Asansol, Durgapur, Raniganj, Kulti etc.)

Step 4: Verification (7–14 days)

Google sends a postcard to your Asansol address with a 5-digit PIN. Enter it in your GBP dashboard to verify. Don’t move the business or change the address until verified — you’ll have to redo the whole thing.

Step 5: Complete every section (do NOT skip)

  • Business hours (with special hours for Durga Puja, Kali Puja, festivals)
  • Business description (750 characters, natural language, mention Asansol once)
  • Services: add each as a separate line with description + price if possible
  • Products: add if applicable, with photos + prices
  • Attributes: wheelchair access, LGBTQ friendly, women-led (whatever applies honestly)

Step 6: Upload photos properly

  • Cover photo: your shop front (Hutton Road / G.T. Road / wherever) with your signboard clearly visible
  • Logo: square, high-res, no white padding around it
  • Interior: at least 5 photos
  • Team: photos of you and staff (Google favours listings with real faces)
  • Product / service: 10+ photos, geo-tagged from your Asansol location if possible

Step 7: Start posting

Post 1 update every week — offer, event, new product, festival greeting. Consistency is what tells Google your business is active.

Step 8: Ask for reviews

Get your Google review link (Share → short URL) and send it via WhatsApp to every happy customer. Reply to every single review within 24 hours — positive AND negative.

Common Asansol GBP mistakes

  • Fake address (a friend’s shop, a virtual office — both get suspended)
  • Adding city name to business name (“Asansol Clinic” is fine only if that’s your legal name)
  • Using stock photos instead of real Asansol photos
  • Ignoring reviews for months
  • Never posting after verification
